From the Land, Hand Woven.
Natural fibres. Traditional craftsmanship. A more considered way of dressing. The finest alpaca, llama, guanaco fibers and merino wool.
At Church & Hill, every piece begins with the natural world. Inspired by the landscapes and textile traditions of Britain and South America, we work with exceptional natural fibres and skilled makers to create timeless pieces designed to be worn, treasured and passed on.
From the softness of fine Merino wool to the distinctive character of alpaca and llama, our materials are chosen for their texture, warmth and enduring appeal. Each fibre brings its own qualities, shaped into pieces that bridge the traditions of South American weaving and British country style.
The Art of the Weaver
Every poncho and ruana carries the work of human hands and all our pieces are weaved in the homes of our weavers.
We work with independent weavers in Buenos Aires, where our pieces are woven individually using traditional techniques. Our relationship with these makers is personal and collaborative, built around their skill, their knowledge of the materials and the time that careful craftsmanship demands.
Alongside our independent makers, we work with Manos del Uruguay, a cooperative founded to create opportunities for women through traditional textile craftsmanship. This partnership connects Church & Hill with a wider community of skilled women whose work helps sustain weaving traditions and livelihoods.
Whether made by an independent artisan or through our partnership with Manos del Uruguay, each piece reflects the care, patience and skill behind its creation.
Made to Last, Not to Be Replaced
We believe in buying less and choosing well.
Rather than following passing trends, we create versatile, timeless pieces intended to become part of your wardrobe for years to come. Natural fibres, enduring designs and traditional weaving sit at the heart of our approach.
For us, slow fashion means valuing the people behind our products, respecting the materials we use and making considered choices at every stage of the process. We believe that what we make should be worth keeping.
A Responsibility to the Land
The landscapes of the Andes and the Pampas are central to our inspiration. They are home to the animals, fibres, traditions and ways of life that have shaped South American textile culture for generations.
For Church & Hill co-founder Richard, this connection runs deeper than the clothes we create. Having spent his career as a wildlife filmmaker, documenting the natural world for international productions, he has seen first-hand the extraordinary beauty of wild places — and the importance of protecting them for future generations.
We believe that taking inspiration from nature brings a responsibility to give something back. That is why Church & Hill will donate £1 to Rewilding Argentina for every ruana sold, helping support the restoration of natural ecosystems and the protection of Argentina’s extraordinary wildlife and native flora.
From the land, through the hands of skilled makers, and back to the landscapes that inspire us, every ruana is part of a bigger story.
Church & Hill. British heritage. South American craft. A lasting connection to the wild.
